8 Day Heritage & Cycling Expedition | Andalusia, Spain
Explore the Islamic legacy of Andalusia, cycle through historic landscapes and experience Al Andalus on an unforgettable journey from Córdoba to Granada, the Alpujarras and the Mediterranean coast.
Following the success of our Hike Al Andalus expeditions, we are excited to introduce a brand new way to experience this incredible region in 2027.
Join Muslim Cyclists as we explore the rich Islamic legacy of Al Andalus, travelling through historic cities, ancient landscapes and some of the most beautiful cycling routes in southern Spain.
This is more than a cycling challenge. It is a cultural, spiritual and physical journey through one of Europe’s most fascinating regions.
Discover the extraordinary history of Córdoba, ride through the Andalusian countryside, explore Granada and the Alhambra Palace, and finish the challenge cycling south through the Alpujarras towards the Mediterranean coast.
Whether you are joining for the history, the cycling, the community or the adventure, this is an experience designed to create memories that last a lifetime.
All are welcome regardless of religious background or previous cycling experience.

ITINERARY HIGHLIGHTS
Day 1 | Malaga to Córdoba
Meet at Malaga Airport, group transfer to Córdoba, hotel check in, welcome briefing and introduction to the journey.
Day 2 | Córdoba: Islamic Heritage
Explore the rich Islamic history of Córdoba, including an interactive Islamic Spain museum, the Great Mosque of Córdoba and the historic ruins of Madinat al Zahra.
Day 3 | Cycle Day 1: Puente Genil to Mencía Subbética
Approx. 45 km along the Via Verde, cycling through olive groves, rolling countryside and historic railway routes before finishing at Mencía Subbética.
Day 4 | Cycle Day 2: Mencía Subbética to Alcalá la Real
Approx. 56 km, continuing along the Via Verde before taking on the most demanding climbs of the challenge and finishing in Alcalá la Real.
Day 5 | Cycle Day 3: Alcalá la Real to Granada
Approx. 54 km of scenic riding towards Granada, with long descents and mountain views, followed by a guided city walk and evening in Granada.
Day 6 | Granada & the Alhambra
History of Islamic Spain workshop, guided tour of the Alhambra Palace, lunch and free time to explore Granada.
Day 7 | Cycle Day 4: Alpujarras to the Coast
Approx. 68 km through the Alpujarras towards the Mediterranean coast, followed by a visit to Órgiva, a shared meal and group reflections before transferring to Malaga.
Day 8 | Malaga & Departures
Breakfast and hotel check out, followed by free time in Malaga or onward travel to the airport.
CYCLING INFORMATION
The four cycling days are designed to allow participants to experience the incredible landscapes of Andalusia while challenging themselves across a variety of terrain.
The journey begins with a gentler ride along the Via Verde before progressing to longer and more demanding days, including climbs, descents and quieter road sections through the Andalusian countryside.
The challenge covers approximately 223 km across four cycling days, with distances ranging from around 45 km to 68 km per day.
A reasonable level of fitness and preparation will be required. Participants should be comfortable spending several hours on a bike and riding on varied terrain.
Hybrid bikes and helmets will be provided as part of the expedition.

The operator package includes accommodation, transport, guiding, entrance fees, group airport transfers, hybrid bikes, helmets, bike and luggage transport, assistance and water.

TICKET OPTIONS
- Early Bird Standard Ticket (First 10 places): £1,175
Full payment or £250 deposit and pay the remainder via instalments.
- Standard Ticket: £1,250
Full payment or £250 deposit and pay the remainder via instalments.
- Charity Ticket: £400
Full payment or £250 deposit and pay the remaining £150 via instalments, with a minimum fundraising requirement of £2,500.
Muslim Cyclists proudly supports Charity Right, providing meals to children in need around the world, as well as delivering emergency food support in areas affected by crisis.
Standard ticket holders are also welcome to join the fundraiser (optional).
At least 80% of the minimum sponsorship target is expected one month before the event, with the full amount due before departure.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation will be provided throughout the expedition.
Rooms are based on 2 or 3 people sharing.
Single supplement: £270 (1 person non sharing)
We try our best to accommodate two people per room where possible. This will depend on the size of the group and availability of rooms at the hotels we stay in.
Although unlikely, rooming arrangements may change between hotels depending on room availability and group size.
TRAVEL INFORMATION
Arrival
Participants should meet at Malaga Airport by 12:00 on Monday 20 September 2027.
The group will then transfer together to Córdoba, where the expedition will begin with hotel check in, a welcome briefing and introduction to the journey.
Further travel guidance will be shared with registered participants.
Departure
The expedition will finish in Malaga on Monday 27 September 2027.
After breakfast and hotel check out at 12pm, participants will be free to make their onward travel arrangements or spend additional time in Malaga before heading to the airport.
We recommend booking return flights from late morning onwards.
Final departure and airport transfer arrangements will be confirmed with registered participants.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- All participants will receive a detailed itinerary and cycling information upon registration.
- A recommended cycling kit and equipment list will be provided before the expedition.
- Please note that cycling routes and itineraries may be subject to change depending on weather conditions, safety considerations and local guidance. Our priority is always ensuring participants have a safe and enjoyable experience.
- Tickets are strictly non transferable and non refundable.
