Epping Forest

This Summer, we’re heading back to London for the fourth edition of our partnership hike with Epping Forest Heritage Trust.

This circular route covers the northern section of ancient Epping Forest, starting and finishing at the historic Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge. Along the way, you’ll encounter tranquil ponds, ancient oak trees over 500 years old, two Iron Age forts, and precious, protected habitats.

This is a moderately challenging route of 22km (14 miles) with over 500m elevation gain, a perfect summer day out to enjoy crisp air, colourful leaves, and community connection.

All are welcome, regardless of religious background or ability. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or joining us for the first time, this is your invitation to explore Epping Forest with us.

THE WALK

Meet Time: 09:00 | Start Time: 10:00 sharp
Location: Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge, 6 Ranger’s Road, London E4 7QH

Public Transport:

• Chingford Overground Station, Station Road, Chingford, Greater London, E4 6AL
• Short walk from the station to Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge

Car Parking:

• Bury Road Car Park, Bury Road, Chingford E4 7AZ
  Please arrive early, parking is limited

Toilets: Available at Chingford Station and Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge

Route Distance: 22km / 14 miles
Elevation: 500m gain
Duration: 7–8 hours (casual pace with breaks)
Difficulty: Moderate – suitable for most with a good level of fitness

Finish Time: By approx. 6:00pm

KIT LIST

Hiking boots or trail shoes recommended, rucksack, waterproof jacket & trousers, extra layers, water bottle (at least 1.5L), and packed lunch. A full kit list will be emailed to you.
