ABOUT THE EVENT
Muslim Hikers invites you to the beautiful countryside in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to hike from railway station to station with Surrey Hills Society.
This hike will take you along a stretch of the North Downs Way, an ancient trail spanning 153 miles of the South-East of England. This hike is facilitated by the Surrey Hills Society to help connect people with nature.

The hike will be approximately 8 miles including some challenging climbs. Please meet us on the platform (platform number TBC) at Guildford station where we will be hopping on a short 15 minute train to Gomshall where the hike will start. If you are travelling by car, you must park in Guildford as this is a linear walk and we will not be returning to Gomshall. There will be a stop for lunch at popular viewpoint Newlands Corner, please bring a picnic to enjoy (a café is also on site, but this can get busy). This is a fantastic opportunity to meet likeminded hikers & adventurers from across the country and enjoy a scenic social hike whilst discovering the Surrey countryside.
Please note that the hike will be photographed and filmed.

DIFFICULTY LEVEL:
Moderate/Challenging — come prepared for a hike with some steep inclines.
This walk is an 8-mile linear walk, with steep climbs, descents into deep valleys and steps. It covers much of the North Downs Way and passes some wonderful viewpoints. Please don’t start this walk without suitable footwear, clothing, or provisions. At least 2 litres of water is essential.
In the event of train strikes or extreme weather, this hike may be modified or cancelled. Please check your registered email frequently before the hike for updates.
Schedule for the day:
10.00 — Make your way to the platform for the train to Gomshall at Guildford Station (toilets available), and check in with us.
11.13 — Train to Gomshall
11.30 — Arrive at Gomshall Station & safety briefing (please note – no toilets are available at this station)
11.45 — Hike begins
14.30 (approx.) — Lunch at Newlands Corner — please bring your own picnic and toilet facilities available
15.15 — Hike continues.
18.00/19.00 — Hike finishes at Guildford Station
KIT LIST:
Hiking boots with ankle support recommended, rucksack, waterproof jacket & trousers, extra layers, water bottle & packed lunch. You will be sent a full kit list via email.
