Longshaw

Join us for a winter adventure in the stunning Peak District! Our Longshaw, Padley Gorge & Burbage Edge hike offers a perfect blend of dramatic landscapes, tranquil woodland, and historic charm, making it an ideal outing for hikers of all abilities.

This 14km circular route takes you through the enchanting Padley Gorge, a magical woodland known for its cascading streams, ancient oak trees, and serene atmosphere. From there, we’ll ascend to Higger Tor, the highest point of our hike, offering breathtaking panoramic views across the Peak District’s rugged moorland. The route also includes the dramatic Burbage Edge, with its iconic gritstone formations and expansive vistas, as well as the serene grounds of the Longshaw National Trust Estate.

The hike concludes with a post-hike social at the Longshaw Café, where you can warm up, enjoy delicious refreshments, and connect with fellow hikers.

Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or new to the trails, this event promises a day of exploration, connection, and inspiration.

THE WALK

PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY – Car parking may be limited, so it’s important to arrive on time to find alternative parking if needed.

Walk distance/Duration:

• Distance: 14km
• Duration: Approx. 6.5 hours
• Elevation gain: 360m
• Difficulty level: EASY – This hike is suitable for most walking abilities. As always, being physically prepared will help you enjoy the experience more.

After a short briefing, we shall start the trek at 09:30 sharp and aim to complete it by 16:00, followed by our social at the café.

POST-HIKE SOCIAL
After the hike, join us back at the Longshaw Café, a welcoming National Trust café with scenic views. Warm up with food and drinks, connect with fellow hikers, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Space for prayer will also be provided.

KIT LIST
Hiking boots with ankle support recommended, rucksack, waterproof jacket & trousers, extra layers, water bottle & packed lunch. A full kit list will be sent to you via email.
