The Ramadan Retreat

Our Annual Ramadan Retreat returns for 2025.

A unique Ramadan hike along with Iftar, night prayers and suhoor at Ilam Park, a gorgeous National Trust Estate located in Staffordshire, Peak District.

Home to Italian gardens and riverside walks, we’ve picked out this superb location for a beautiful walk taking in the most breathtaking views of this stunning part of the Peak District. Although there are magnificent views along the way, this route does not feel like a tough one and is a great one to enjoy casually whilst fasting.

A fully inclusive 1 night stay including a guided hike, 3 course Iftar meal, Suhoor & more!

You’ll also have the opportunity to join National Trust rangers for a short optional conservation taster session. Work alongside the knowledgeable ranger team to deliver a hands-on practical conservation management task at Ilam Park. No experience needed, full instruction will be given on the day and all equipment and protective clothing will be provided. A chance to find out how National Trust care for their places.

All are welcome regardless of religious background or ability. Whether you’re a seasoned mountaineer or a first time walker, we invite you to join us for this unique experience in the beautiful Peak District.

THE ITINERARY

Saturday 8 March

11:30: Arrivals

12:30: Afternoon prayers & welcome briefing

13:15-16:15: Hike

18.00: Ifar Meal & prayers

20:15: Night prayers

21:30: Refreshments

00:00: Night prayers

03:45: Suhoor Breakfast

04:30: Morning Prayers & sleep

10:00: Checkout & departures

10:00: Optional Conservation taster session with National Trust

ACCOMMODATION

You will be spending your weekend at YHA Ilam Hall, booked exclusively for Muslim Hikers. This 17th Century gothic manor sits in 84 acres of National Trust parkland, with the beauty of Dovedale just on its doorstep.

A ccomodation is based on same gender sharing rooms. Room share requests and allocations will be processed after registration.

Car parking is available on site.
