We’re heading back to one of the Peak District’s most iconic ridgelines, The Roaches.

Located above Leek and Tittesworth Reservoir, this dramatic gritstone ridge is loved by hikers and climbers alike. With impressive rock formations, steep ascents, panoramic views, and a touch of local legend (including mythical mermaids and natural stone clefts), this is far more than your average countryside walk.

Starting from the car park near Roaches Tea Rooms, we’ll walk a varied route including a steep ascent to Hen Cloud (410m). From there, we’ll descend before gradually climbing the main ridge to The Roaches Trig Point (505m), where we’ll stop for a break, photos, and prayer if weather allows. After a lunch stop near Hazelwood Road, we’ll return to our starting point, with an optional café social at the end.

This is a fantastic opportunity to connect with likeminded hikers from across the UK and enjoy a professionally guided trek through one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Peaks.

All are welcome — beginners included.

Car Parking: Field adjacent to Roaches Tea Rooms, Paddock Farm, Roach Road, Upper Hulme, Leek, ST13 8TY Please arrive early — parking is limited.

Route Distance: 9.5 miles (15km)

Duration: Approx. 5 hours

Finish Time: By approx. 3:00 PM

Grading: Easy to Moderate

KIT LIST

Hiking boots or trail shoes recommended, rucksack, waterproof jacket & trousers, extra layers, water bottle (at least 1.5L), and packed lunch. A full kit list will be emailed to you.
