Muslim Runners Statement on the Saucony Run Shoreditch 10K
This weekend, the Saucony Run shoreditch 10K takes place in London with many from our community expecting to take part.
But we cannot stay silent.
As Muslim Runners, we have made the decision to boycott the Saucony Run Shoreditch 10K and stand firmly against Saucony as a brand.
Why?
Saucony is the official sponsor of the Jerusalem Marathon, a race that runs through illegally occupied Palestinian neighbourhoods in East Jerusalem, land recognised by the United Nations and international law as part of the occupied West Bank.
But it goes further:

Saucony released a branded “Jerusalem Marathon” running shoe

They platformed Israeli soldiers who served in Gaza as brand ambassadors

They used this marathon to whitewash violent occupation under the banner of “sportsmanship”
This is not neutrality. This is active complicity.
What We Stand For
We cannot accept that a running brand uses its global platform to normalise apartheid, occupation, and genocide, while simultaneously profiting from communities like ours here in the UK.
We believe:

Running is about justice

Running is about humanity

Running should never be used to mask or legitimise oppression
What We’re Asking
We urge our community to boycott the Saucony 10K this weekend
We encourage all runners of conscience to reconsider their participation
We call on Saucony to immediately end its sponsorship of the Jerusalem Marathon
We stand with Palestine.
We stand for what’s right.
We will not run with complicity.
